Modular Alphabets
For this task, we were assigned to create a modular alphabet using shapes created from grids. By printing a hexagon grid paper, I used a used a pencil to create my shapes first focusing on letters that can be adapted to create other letters, for example, 'b', 'd' and 'p'. From there I formed my lowercase alphabet and scanned it into Adobe Illustrator. Using the pen tool I created the hexagon shape and following my design, copied and pasted it over the drawing. Once I recreated the alphabet I started to create my design for the BBC Radio 2 Electric Proms.
Using the essence of the hexagonal typeface, I created a honeycomb design in silver and greys to keep a modern feel. I decided to use a bright green gradient in some of the honeycomb and edging for the rest of them. I then cut out a strip in the centre to place the logo and text over a darker grey to give it contrast.
